Question : How do I remove a Domain Controller from Active Directory

One of my Domain Controllers in Active directory has crashed. (W2003 Server)
I have removed the computer from the network and I want to remove it also from Active Directory Controllers tab
'
I have tried [delete] and chose the third option [The dc is permanentlly out and can not be demoted by DCPRMO] but it is not removed.
The message says:
The object XXXXX (or some of the objects it contains) can not be deleted. Access denied.

Thank you

If it's not listed in NTDSUtil you can skip on slightly.

It's likely that there's still an NTFRS Subscriber object beneath the Domain Controller which is causing your Access Denied message.

If you use ADSIEdit.msc to delete the Account it will remove that sub-object as well, all described under "Procedure 2: Windows 2000 (All versions) Windows Server 2003 RTM" after the main set of steps (1 - 17).
