Question : Install Windows Server 2003 on laptop
|
|
Hello everybody,
I have a laptop (DELL Latitude D830) running Vista Business and I would like to install Windows Server 2003. . Booting from the Windows 2003 CD, I eventually get the error "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer ". I think it's probably missing the SATA drives.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance

You need to install the drivers for SATA for your laptop - did you get a CD with the laptop that mentions drivers or SATA? If not, you will need to download them from Dell. Loading SATA drivers for SATA disks with Win2k3 works in much the same way as loading SCSI drivers for SCSI disks. However, you may even be able to download an OpenManage CD from Dell that autoboots and runs the prep for installing Win2k3.
