Question : Work group servers cannot ping 2008 R2 domain controller or access DNS
I have a 2008 R2 DC on hardware. I have several 2003 servers, hardware and VM) that have no problem connecting to DNS on the DC.
Problem:
several 2008 servers in a workgrouop (VM on ESXI) that cannot ping or access DNS on the DC.
Systems (VMs) that are joined to the domain can access DNS but cannot ping the DC on the local network.
Any Ideas on how to fix this?

Can you shut down the firewall service on the 2008 DC to see if the problematic machines can ping?
