Question : Unable to map printer using XPsp2 Corp RDC 6.0
|
|
Hello,
I need to have a local pritner mapped to a remote machine accessed with Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 on Windows XP Corp SP2.
My understanding is all that needs to be done is check the "printers" under Options/Local resources. As well as making sure there are no group policies that would prevent the printer from mapping.
It is also my understanding that drivers need to be installed, and that an event will be generated if said drivers are not compatible/available.
My situation is that I cannot see the printer anywhere, even if the box is checked, the policies are set to either "not configured" or "Disabled" and the drivers are installed on the remote machine. I also cannot seem to find anything pertaining to this in my event log.
Any suggestions/tests?
Thanks!

We have found the problem!
I was looking at the policies with gpedit.msc and couldn't see anything wrong with it.
Then I learned about rsop.msc and saw that some other policies were actually applied that I couldn't see... and they prevented the printers from mapping =s
It would've been nice for my admin to notice this before =)
Thanks again!
