Question : Pivot table Field settings not preserved

Hi All,
Having trouble preserving field settings when dragging in and out of the pivot table. I will set a field to sum and the number format to currency in the field settings box. If I drag the field out of the pivot table and then drag it back in again it resets to summarize by count and no number formatting.
Is this normal?

I re-read your first post and tried again, actually removing it. Yes (as RORYA noted, above) it does the same for me. It is regular behavior.
