Question : Terminal Server and Sharepoint question
|
|
We are wanting to make a windows 2003 server we have that has Sharepoint WSS 3.0 on it, which is used on our internal network everyday, and want to make this server a app terminal server, the only problem is we want to make sure once we make the switch over to app mode that sharepoint will not stop working.
In the install it states: If you continue with this installation, programs that are already installed on your server will no longer work .
We sure dont want that to happen, this is the only thing we are concerned with, I have read some other threads about that some suers have had no problems and some had to reinstall office, but really the only concern is SHAREPOINT.

Answer : Terminal Server and Sharepoint question

I would recommend that a terminal server ALWAYS be a standalone box as you do not want users logging in to a server that is also hosting server apps. Especially if they are not locked down properly and have access to the internet via the terminal server. If you do not the extra hardware for a standalone box and only need a few users to access it I would suggest vmware and virtualize it and ONLY use it as a terminal server.
In answer to your question I dont see why it would affect sharepoint at all but I always build a terminal server on a seperate box so I could not tell you for sure.
